Bridge United A - 5
Moher Celtic A - 1
Bridge marched into round 4 of the FAI Junior Cup on Sunday morning with a convincing win over 1st Division side Moher Celtic.
The home side took the lead on 12 minutes when Darren Murphy’s ranging diagonal ball found Eoghan Pewter down the right channel, Pewter squared to the in form Derek Fahy who made no mistake from 10 yards.
Pewter was a constant thorn in the side of the West Clare men all afternoon and he added a second on 22 mins when he followed in Kieran Quinlan original effort to slot home from 6 yards.
Moher responded against the run of play on 34 minutes when Jimin Dooley brilliantly scored with a free kick from 25 yards. This revitalised the visitors who started the 2nd half much the livelier and kept the Bridge rear-guard very much under pressure but without creating any clear cut chances.
Bridge extended their lead on 60 minutes when the impressive Christy Griffen found space down the right flank and squared for Brian O’Connor to force home.
Pewter got a much deserved second goal on 62 minutes when he slot home from a tight angle after stand in keeper Matt Kinch initially saved from Fahy.
Fahy made it 5 on 71 minutes when he emphatically capitalised on a defensive error with a brilliant finish to the top right corner.
