Maloney Hardware Premier Division
Coole FC 0-4 Bridge United
In blustery, wet conditions Bridge United accounted for a spirited Coole FC in the Maloney Hardware Premier Division clash in St Colman's Park today.
It was the hosts that started the brightest, using the breeze to their advantage firing balls in to the box at every opportunity.
Bridge keeper Luke Woodrow stood tall and collected some crosses confidently to quell the aerial bombardment.
Paul Corry had the first real opportunity of the half when his attempted lob had Peter Zsiga in trouble but his effort went agonisingly wide of the Coole post.
The deadlock was broken on 31mins when a ball from Adam Fitzpatrick in to Corrys feet allowed the striker turn and play in Jordan Downes who finished first time to the far post.
Bridge doubled their lead on the 50th minute when the hard working Alex Collins was bundled over in the box and Liam Buckley tucked away the resulting spot kick.
The third goal arrived courtesy of Corry, who's sublime touch allowed him the opportunity to volley at the Zsiga, his initial effort was well saved but the Bridge no.9 was on hand to follow up and finish to the net.
The introduction of Leon Daly soon after caused the Coole FC rearguard immediate trouble as he picked up the ball, skipped past two defenders and slid the ball home to make it 4-0 with 77mins played.
This win sees Bridge leapfrog Newmarket Celtic back to the top of the table, albeit with a game extra played.
Mark Culbert's charges will be pleased with their display against a good Coole side, the four goal haul was every bit as impressive as the shut out at the other end.
Next up is a stern test in the shape of Lifford AFC, who themselves had a good win today, a 2-1 win over Tralee Dynamos in the FAI Junior Cup.
