Shannon Olympic 1 Bridge United A 2

Bridge Utd got back to winning ways this morning in horrendous conditions at Olympic Park. The visitors started the brightest and had an early Trevor Maxwell penalty shout waved away by Shane Hayes.

Bridge United however didn't have to wait long before opening their account with Johnny Okoro turning in a Eoghan Pewter effort from Kieran Quinlans corner.

Maxwells bright start continued when he struck a sublime effort off the bar from 30 yards. Jay Whyte was next to try his luck with a speculative 25 yard effort that DeLoughrey did well to get a hand to and palm over the bar.

The second goal came when a through ball by Jon Downes set Kieran Quinlan free and his initial effort was foiled only to recover the rebound and cooly slot in to the bottom corner.
Olympic were on the ropes and a combination of last ditch defending a fine goalkeeping kept the visitors at bay. Olympics sole first half effort fell to Quigley who's close range effort cannoned off the Bridge upright.

The second half saw Olympic fly out of the blocks and had the upper hand in the possession stakes but never really troubled Touhy in the Bridge goal. The Shannon sides best chance fell to Rachid Amallah who's tame effort was comfortably saved by Bridge number one.

DeLoughrey made 3 key saves from Quinlan, McNamara and Pewter to keep the home side in the game.
To their credit Olympic battled all the way and were rewarded with an injury time consolation goal when a first time volley by Jay Regarding  flew into the away net.
