Bridge United B 0-2 Shannon Town B
Bridge B, with a much improved performance this afternoon, were unlucky to come away empty-handed when they locked horns with Shannon Town B.
The game began with both defences on top and little in the way of chances. Michael Carr competing well in midfield.
The game sparked in life when Cian Fawl made a great save from point blank range. The resulting corner however was headed to the net to open the scoring on 23mins.
Bridge had a huge chance to equalise almost immediately after when Colm Hennessy uncharacteristically hesitated over a chance before dragging his shot wide.
Bridge were dealt a blow on 34mins when Adam O Sullivan hobbled off injured, the young full back was having a fine game up to this point.
Shannon Town saw a great effort struck from outside the box crash off the crossbar just before half time.
8mins in to the second half Shannon Town made it two nil. Eoin Collins expertly tucking away a penalty kick leaving Fawl with no chance.
Both sides had good chances to score for the remainder of the half. Substitute Ferdia O'Lionán and Colm Hennessy coming closed from Bridge B.
At the other end goalkeeper Fawl needed to be in top form to keep the Shannon side from adding to their lead.
Try as they could, Bridge B couldn't pull a goal back and the game finished 2 nil.
Next up is Avenue United B, a must win game if there ever was one.
