Alymers Rest Youths League
Bridge United 1 - 4 Shannon Town

Our Youths team suffered a loss to the hands of neighbours Shannon Town on Saturday afternoon.

In wet and miserable conditions it was the visitors that hit the front early on when a wide free kick deceived Bridge keeper Eamon Breen and curled in over the young netminder.

The first half was a tame affair with most of the play coming from the flanks. Charlie Morrison of Shannon Town was prominent, and his battle with Bridge left back Liam Flynn was the highlight of the opening 45mins.

Inside 2mins of the second half, the game turned in favour of Shannon Town when a lapse in concentration saw them double their lead.

By the hour mark, two turned to three when a cross wasn't properly dealt with and was bundled over the line to leave Bridge with a mountain to climb.

Conor Gilligan pulled a goal back to cap off a good individual display on his behalf. He can be quietly confident about his 90mins performance.

Town added a fourth to secure a fully deserved win, in the process moving themselves in to third position on the league table, two points clear of Bridge in fourth place.

Manager Dave Slater will know that aside from some individual errors and uncharacteristic mistakes, his side were a good match for Shannon Town and can look forward for the remainder of the season with optimism.
