U16 SFAI Round of 16
Rathangan AFC v Bridge United
Rathangan, 2pm
The clubs biggest game of the weekend is unquestionably our u16 Round of 16 tie with KDUL outfit Rathangan AFC. The game is fixed for a 2pm kick off on Saturday.
Having accounted for Caherconlish, Aisling Annacotty B, Broadford United, Kilorglin FC and Prosperous United to date, Bridge look to add Rathangan AFC to that formidable list of scalps.
The Bridge have amassed a whopping 25 goal haul on their way to this juncture and even more impressively have conceded just once, that goal coming in the Round of 64 clash with Kilorglin FC.
They'll surely need to carry that form up the N7 this coming weekend if they have any aspirations of a quarter final appearance away to the winners of Carrigaline or Douglas Hall.
Pa O Halloran's side will be buoyed by the return of Niall Liddane, his influence could be telling, as will the form of Aidan Moloney in the middle of the park. Fresh off the back of silverware at the Kennedy Cup, Moloney's services were highly sought after in the League of Ireland off season.
Not shy infront of goal, the likes of O'Hallorans, Matthew and Jack, and Isaac Deegan Green will hope to once again supply the ammunition.
But maybe it's the defence this team is built up that may go unnoticed, the titanic efforts seen in the last round from Michael Morey, Zac Phelan and Co. each of them to man defying their tender years to defend with such composure in the face of a Prosperous United second half onslaught. Not to mention the promising Finn Murphy in goal.
Although sailing in to unchartered waters, this side have no inhibitions and will fully believe they have the grit and determination to get them over the line. We at Bridge United are very proud and excited by this teams achievements, we hope to see a vocal travelling support in Kildare in Saturday.
