U16 Boys SFAI National Cup Round 4
Bridge United 1 Killorglin AFC 1 (Bridge win 3-1 on pens)
Bridge marched on to Round 5 (Last 32) following a hard fought win over Killorglin. A Jack O’Halloran penalty gave the home side the lead in the second half only for Liam Hayes to head home an equaliser.
The game went all the way to penalties with Jack O’Halloran, Aidan Moloney and Calum Phelan converting and Finn Murphy saving 2 Killorglin efforts.
The draw for the last 32 will take place this Tuesday. Well done to all the players and management on a great cup run.
U14Boys SFAI National Cup Round 4
Holycross AFC 3 Bridge United 0
Our U14s faced a strong Holycross team on Saturday with very little between the sides. Bridge enjoyed the majority of possession in the first half but struggled to convert into scoring opportunities.
With defences well on top the game was decided by some special free kicks from Killian Murphy from the hosts. Both frees were 25-30 yards out and both gave keeper Luke Canny no chance. Sandwiched between those free kicks was a penalty conversion by Michael Hanly after Jack O’Halloran was harshly penalised for handball.
That brings to an end a long season for our 2008s who have a lot to be proud of. League Winners and huge commitment all year they are a pleasure to coach. Thanks to players, parents and management as well as team sponsors EI Electronics and Advanced Diamond Engineering (Photo in their new tops).
We will have two teams in the draw of 32 which takes place on Tuesday with our U16 Boys now joining our U12 Girls in the hat for Round 5. Best of luck.
