Bridge United A will contest the Hugh Kelly cup final for a second year running this Wednesday evening at the County Grounds hoping to go one step better than last year and bring home the honours. In a unique final of clubs previously managed by Hugh both Avenue and Bridge United will fancy their chances with both clubs finding some decent form of late.
Avenue eventually overcame a strong Tulla United side in the semi-final on penalties and can point to a very strong record when it comes to competing in finals of Clare Cups. On the last 2 occasions that these sides met in a domestic finals it was the Ennis men that came out on top defeating Bridge United B in the Clare Cup Finals of 2010 and 2011.
Bridge United A defeated Shannon Olympic A on a scoreline of 4 goals to nil in the other semi-final thanks to goals from Pa Mc Mahon (2), Jon Okoro and Mikey McNamara.
Kickoff on Wednesday is at 6.45pm.
On Sunday the teams attention returns to league duty where they will face Maher Celtic in Lahinch at 11.am. Bridge will know that only a win will be good enough to keep their title charge on track but Moher will also be hugely motivated knowing that they will need a result to assist in their relegation fight.
Best of luck lads!
