Shannon Hibs – 3
Bridge United AFC – 1 (AET)
Bridge were unlucky not to progress to the final of this years cup competition following a strong display against Hibs Saturday before last. The hosts took an early lead within 5 minutes but the rest of the half belonged to the visitors who found Hibs keeper Conor Wall in inspired form.
Mid way through the second half Cian Conroy equalised with an excellent chipped finish giving Wall no chance. Both teams had chances to win it in normal time with the Bridge finishing stronger. Extra time would be needed to separate the sides and Tiernan Adely one his one v one duel with stand in Bridge keeper Oscar Wrixon Todd to put the hosts 2-1 up. Shane Moloney added a third to kill the tie in the second period of extra time.
Bridge have a lot of positives to take from this game despite the result. They are slowly building a strong squad which can definitely challenge for silverware in the seasons to come. Outstanding performances on the day by Oscar in goal, Aidan Moloney in midfield but really by all the team who fought to the end.
