In another week where the weather played havoc on certain fixtures, we continued with our underage calendar and had the small matter of 2 cup finals and a league decider to contest.

Bridge United Youths 6 – Tulla Youths 0

Following the postponement of their fixture a week previous, our Youths side finally took to the field on Monday evening to attempt to wrap up their league season with a win. A win would ensure they clinched the league title away from Shannon Town so the pressure was on.

The young Bridge men dealt with the pressure brilliantly and put in a sublime performance on the night, running out 6 nil winners. Eli O Sullivan Murphy kept his excellent goal scoring form going by bagging 2, Scott Kirkland, Dylan Downes, Liam Buckley & Luke Shea also hit the net.

An undefeated League campaign for the Youths team, a league where they have come out as winners, winning 6 & drawing 2.

Also on Monday night, our Under 12 Girls teams took the field. The Under 9s Red & White Teams were in action, both playing against Avenue United. Our U9 Red Team showed excellent fight, coming from 2 nil down to win their match. Erik Bejemariu & Sam Murphy both grabbing a brace. The Black team also put in an impressive performance that included some fantastic passing, movement and the creation of a host of chances. Noah Seago hit the net on the night as they came away with a draw.

Shannon Town Youths 0 – Bridge United Youths 2

We saw more cancellations due to the weather through Wednesday evening but The Youths Cup Final between Shannon Town and Bridge United did take place on Thursday evening.

The final, consisting of the top 2 teams in the Youths League, took place in Healy Park. With Shannon Town desperate to claim the Cup title after barely losing out to The Bridge in the League, the scene was set.

In a competitive first half, it took a wonder strike from 25 yards plus from Eli O Sullivan Murphy to break the deadlock. He received the ball with his back to goal, turned quickly to lose his marker a smashed a right foot shot to the keepers right. 1 nil up going in to half time.

The second half was very even. Bridge United were forced to replace their keeper Will Fitzgerald at half time due to a nasty collision just before the break. Conor Maxwell put on the gloves for the second half and commanded his defence well throughout.

The game was settled 10 minutes before time. Shannon Town gave away a free kick 20 yards from goal, up stepped Scott Kirkland with a free kick to settle the game.

An amazing achievement for this Management team and their panel of players. 2 cups wrapped up in 4 days. A fully deserved double to dovetail their excellent cup runs throughout the season.

Ennis Town U16 0 – Bridge United U16 6

Our Under 14 Team travelled to Lee’s Road on Thursday also to take on Ennis Town. Another scintillating performance from this side, running out 6 nil winners. Jack O Halloran grabbed himself a hatrick with Aidan Moloney, Isaac Deegan & Niall Moloney also hitting the net.

Management were keen to point out that this performance was a squad effort with 5 substitutions made at half time and also called out an excellent defensive display from Jack Phelan, Niall Liddane, Callum Phelan & Ben Maxwell.

Ennis Town U17 3 – Bridge United U17 0

Saturday saw a busy day of fixtures take place.

First up, our under 13 team travelled to Woulfe Park to take on BunrattyCratloe and came away with a 2 nil win, Aleks Galdysz grabbing both goals. Both Under 16 Teams were also in action. Our U16 A team took on Moher Celtic and were on the wrong side of a 7 goal 4 – 3 score line. Our U16 B Team took on Mountshannon but unfortunately couldn’t come away with a result, losing 4-2.

Our Under 15A side travelled in to Corrib Drive to take on Shannon Town in the Cup. A bad start for the Bridge men saw them go 2 down. With some amazing effort and excellent performances all round they rallied and came back to win the tie 3 – 2, Liam Flynn, Brendan Carey & Deegan Greene getting the 3 goals on the night.

Last up on Saturday, our Under 17 Team took the field in Healy Park to take on Ennis Town in U17 Clare Cup Final. An excellent first half from the Bridge saw them go in level against the U17 League winners.

Ennis Town had a golden spell in the second half though, where they managed to score 3 goals. The Bridge could not recover and despite some fine performances all over the pitch on the night, it was heartbreak in the final for them.

This wrapped up a fine season for Ray Maxwell and his U17s side. A cup final and some fantastic progression for some of the squad being involved with both the Youths & Senior squads throughout the season.

Professional Pathway Academy

Sunday morning saw our Under 10 girls team play against Connolly Celtic in a blitz on the home pitch. With the Bridge fielding 3 teams, there was action a plenty with some excellent performances and lots of enjoyment throughout with Management keen to thank all involved, especially Connolly Celtic for travelling in for the morning.

Lastly in Shannon road on Sunday afternoon, we saw the PPA sessions kick off with John Grehan & Tommy Barrett taking different sessions throughout the day.
