SFAI U12 National Cup Round 2
Bridge United AFC - 1 (Bridge win 3-2 on pens)
Killarney Celtic - 1
Bridge United progressed to round 3 of the U12 National Cup following a penalty shoot out win played in tough conditions in Sixmilebridge last Saturday.
The home side started the game strongly and following a number of early corners Killian Slater came really close to scoring volleying just over the bar from 10 yards. The Killarney team with a very strong backline were proving extremely hard to break down and defences remained on top up until half time.
Bridge United finally made the breakthrough five minutes into ths second half when captain Donal O'Leary picked up the ball at the edge of the box and brilliantly found the back of the net.
Killarney pressed hard for an equaliser and with the home side spurning a number of chances to kill off the game the visitors found an equaliser in the first minute of injury time to bring the game into extra time.
Extra time proved to be a really end to end affair with both teams pushing hard for a winner, but to no avail. Penalties were to cruelly decide the outcome. Successful spot kicks by Donal O'Leary, Zak Phelan and Killian Slater led to the final action of the tie with Luke Canny brillantly saving the final kick from Killarney.
