Second Division League
Bridge United B - 2 (OG 27', Kieran Quinlan 70')
Rhine Rovers - 1
Bridge continued their fine early season form with a solid team performance and deserved win over Rhine Rovers on Sunday morning. The home side started the game well and were unlucky not to take the lead on 10 minutes when Duck Devanney’s shot was cleared off the line.
Johnny Hayes was next to test the keeper from range on 15 mins and Mark Hehir rattled the crossbar on 20 mins. The pressure finally resulted in a goal when on 27 minutes Hehir’s deep cross was headed to the net by a Rhine defender.
Rhine started the second half much better and were all square on 47 mins when a shot from 30 yards found the back of the Bridge net. Johnny O’Brien was next to test Deasy in the Bridge goal with the visitors enjoying their best period in the game.
Bridge however rode the storm and scored the winner on 70 minutes when Kieran Quinlan picked up the ball at the edge of the box, cut back on his left leg and buried the ball to the keepers left corner.
Quinlan was outstanding for Bridge with Hayes and Keogh also excellent. MOTM however was the youngest player on the pitch Shane Whyte at centre half.
