A young Bridge United side suffered a damaging defeat against a more physical and clinical Lifford side on Sunday morning. Jordan Downes gave the home side the lead with his second strike of the week but two goals from Dylan Blake conceded from set pieces saw the visitors lead at the break.

A third from Matthew Davenport wrapped up the points in the second period.

The home side got the perfect start when Barry Downes picked up Mark Culberts ball centrally before rifling home from 35 yards. Peter Kowalski added a brace before half time on his first appearance for the club to leave the Bridge three up at the break.

Rineanna started the second half brightly but it was the home side who scored the next goal when Kieran Quinlan volleyed home a rebound from Mikey McNamaras effort.

The visitors pulled one back on 70 minutes before Eric Carr wrapped up the points on 80 minutes with a great finish from the edge of the box. Deasy in the Bridge goal made a super save in the dying stages to keep the score at 5-1.

Saturday Round Up

Our U15 Team progressed to the semi final of the Clare Cup with a good win over Ennis Town B after extra time. Goals from Cillian Fitzpatrick (2), James Egan and Evan Callaghan securing the win.

A very young youths team were defeated by Ennis Town with Eli O'Sullivan Murphy on the score sheet.
