Bridge were unfortunate not to progress in this tit for tat battle played in good conditions in Sixmilebridge on Sunday morning. The home side had a shaky start and found themselves 2 down with goals from Matt Kearney and Alan White for the visitors.
However Bridge showed great fighting spirit throughout this game and pulled one back through Ben McLaughlain before half time.
The visitors added a 3rd early in the second half before Trevor Kearney headed home to make it 3-2. With 10 minutes remaining McLaughlain added his second to take the game into extra time.
Hermitage were awarded a penalty in the first half of ET and added a fifth before Kearney added his second to make it 4-5 and ensure a nervy finish to the game for the first division outfit.
Bridge will feel disappointed that they conceded a few sloppy goals and were not helped by injuries to experienced players Culbert, Maxwell and Murray but will be very happy with the attitude and the battling qualities shown throughout the game.
