Junior sides march into Quarter Finals

Shannon Hibernians - 0

Bridge United A - 1

A moment of magic was all that separated the sides at a blustery Riverside Park on Sunday morning. Although the visitors dominated possession for long periods it took a moment of brilliance from Derek Fahy on the half hour mark to separate the sides. Christy Griffen played the ball out wide to the left wing where Fahy dinked the ball over the full backs head before riffling home to the far top corner.

Hibs main threat came from set pieces with Jimmy Houlihan going close on 42 mins and Jamie Egan on 89 mins.

Team:  Paul Touhy, Lee Wall, Darren Murphy,  Alan Mulready, Kevin Kelly, Eoghan Pewter, Conor Deasy, Christy Griffen, Derek Fahy, Jon Okoro, Mikey McNamara

Subs: Ethan Slater for Pewter, Sean McDonald for McNamara, Jon Downes for Deasy, Barry Downes for Fahy.

Bridge United B - 1

Turnpike Rovers – 1

Turnpike Rovers took the lead early on in this cup tie in Bunratty on Sunday morning but were back on level terms minutes before the break through Jay Whyte. The home side dominated for long periods in the second half but could not find a winner. Extra time could not separate the sides either but thanks to goals in the shootout from the experienced quartet of Gavin Downes, Billy Maxwell, Adrian Whyte and Donald Devanney in addition to the excellent Barry Deasy the B team progress 4-3 on penalties and continue their great tradition in the Clare Cup.

Team: Barry Deasy, Johnny Hayes, Cathal Kinnane, Donald Devanney, Dan Larkin, Adrain Whyte, Tadgh Keogh, Eric Carr, Jay Whyte, Gavin Downes, Trevor Maxwell

Subs: Mark Hehir for Hayes, Billy Maxwell for Larkin
